How to Author for Apple Vision Pro
WorkLink Create is a very powerful tool for creating AR Work Instructions that run on Apple Vision Pro. This article assumes you already know the basics of authoring in Create and have created projects and published them as scenarios.
Authoring Projects
Whether you have an existing project, or you are starting from scratch, it is important to know that certain advanced features of the WorkLink app that work on other platforms are not yet supported such as AR trackers for objects and images, legacy UI templates, forms, quizzes, attachments, and callouts -- you can learn more about what is currently supported in the WorkLink app on Apple Vision Pro.
AR Trackers
Your project can have AR trackers that work on other platforms, but the app will ignore them. 3D content will simply appear for viewers and they can move them anywhere they want and it will occlude objects in the real world.
Object Hover States
3D objects' hover states will only be activated if the step action is assigned to a specific mesh. If the parent of the mesh is being used which is perfectly functional and allows a step action to be assigned to a hierarchical tree, the mesh will not 'activate' when the user focuses their eyes on it.
New UI Templates (Labs)
New UI templates authored with the UI Editor 2.0 in Create which is a new and upcoming WorkLink Labs feature is now supported on Apple Vision Pro 1.0.2 and later; however, Camera and Video Insets are not yet supported.
Legacy UI Templates, Forms, Quizzes, & Attachments
Since Legacy UI Templates, Forms, Quizzes, and Attachments are not yet supported, we recommend removing them, or it could negatively impact viewers' sessions. Scenarios with any quiz will not be listed in the app, and if there is a step with a legacy UI template, form, or attachment, it will not be displayed and could also affect navigation if there are headers and insets that are linked to other steps, or mandatory form fields. In the meantime, we recommend leveraging 3D object triggers for navigating within a scenario.
Callouts
Callouts are not yet supported. In the meantime, we recommend creating your own custom callouts with 3D Text and Plane objects for the labels and Cylinders for the lines.
Publishing Scenarios
Since the WorkLink app on Apple Vision Pro does not yet support quizzes and persistent/resumable sessions, do not include any steps with a quiz question, or choose a session type other than Passive or Demo. Any scenario with a quiz or that has persistent session type for any user or per user will not be listed in the app.
Further, the app does not support interactive mode for this new platform so any options to skip content placement and launch in interactive mode will be ignored.
