Create Authoring: Using Form Editor to Gather Information
As we are creating a scenario for you ender user to follow, it may be important to gather any information throughout the process for purposes of cataloging and archiving. Utilizing the Form Editor within Create can be a very powerful tool to allow your end user to share any information they've gathered throughout the process. This information is then submitted and stored directly in the Content Management System (CMS) and can be further accessed using the API.
Below we'll review the Form Editor, it's questions, and some different uses for that information to be gathered.
You can access the Form Editor from your default workspace in the panel on the right of the viewport or by opening it in a separate window (Window>Form Editor).
Selecting the "Form" type will then allow you to begin adding questions to the step you are on and give you the option to choose a Priority.
Priority Types:
Auto Open - The form will be presented to the user as they enter the step
Passive - The form will no auto open and instead allows the user the option to open it themselves if they need to input any information
Force View - The form will open as the user proceeds to the next step
Question Types:
Text - Allows the user to input alphanumeric text and can be very useful for a wide variety of inputs including part numbers, location, comments, ...
Checkbox - Allows the user to check a box associated with given text
Number - Allows the user to input a number to the associated question
Photo - Allows the user to take access the camera of the device to upload a photo. This can be useful for any maintenance to be within a specified condition at the given time.
Multiple Choice - Allows the user to submit a choice between multiple options. Useful for asking what revision of a part is installed and worked on.
Multiple Select - Allows a user to select all options that apply to the given question.
Barcode - Allows the user to access the devices camera to scan and catalog a barcode.
Must Respond - Forces the user to respond by inputting information before they can proceed. This can be useful for safety and accountability as the user proceeds through the process.
Unlike quizzing the user on their knowledge at the end of a process using the Quiz, the Form is useful throughout the procedure to cultivate information about the process in real time. This information is then uploaded to the CMS instantly to access and view by user to be further accessed by the API.
