WorkLink: Licensing and License Management
There are different licenses available to provide the necessary permissions required to use the WorkLink Application.
WorkLink licenses fall under two categories: Scenario Access and Calling Access.
The user's permission determines their access and restrictions on these platforms. See below details of the functionalities of these licenses:
| Function | License | Permission |
Scenario Access (WorkLink Work Instructions) |
Viewer | Viewer can sign into the WorkLink app and view all company scenarios but not licensed for WorkLink Create. |
| Author |
Author can create new scenarios and publish new versions of existing scenarios. Author cannot access Remote Assistance without the Calling Access, but can access WorkLink Instructions on the WorkLink App. |
Note:
- A user cannot be allocated a WorkLink Author license and WorkLink Viewer license at the same time. However, if a user has an Author license, they can do what a Viewer License permits.

Calling Access |
Guest |
Guest can only call or be called by Experts. The access period of a guest is set by the company Administrator. |
| Tech | Tech can call or be called by Experts. Can access their screenshots and recordings in the CMS. | |
| Tech+ | Tech+ can call or be called by Tech+ or Experts. Can access their screenshots and recordings in the CMS. | |
| Expert |
Experts can call: Guests, Tech, Tech+ or Experts. Experts can invite Guest users or co-workers to be guests if they do not have any type of Calling license or invite a co-worker who has a WorkLink Work Instruction license (either Author or Viewer) but no Calling license. The recording button is only made available to a user that holds the Expert license when they place a call. The user with the Expert license must place the call so that when they are in a call with another user, the button is available to both users to start/stop recording.
|
Note:
- A user cannot be allocated a Tech, Tech+, and Expert license at the same time.
- In addition to requiring a license, the ability to make calls may also be limited by company group.
