WorkLink Create: How to create Timeline animations and import animations
Creating timeline animations
- Select the object or part of the object you wish to animate and hit the record button.
- The movement of the object will be recorded and a track will be created in the timeline until you hit "Stop Recording." A new time bar will be created inside the timeline. (You can record multiple transform changes for the same object).
- Hit the play button to play the animation.
- Once you have successfully created your timeline animations, here is how to simulate timeline animations/project.

Importing Animations
Follow this guideline if you want to import animations from a third party, using glb or fbx format.
Supported Animation Types
- Skeleton/Skinned Animations: These animations involve characters or objects that have a skeletal structure. The 'bones' of the skeleton move, and the skin or surface of the object deforms accordingly. This is commonly referred to as 'rigged objects'.
- Keyframe Animations: This type of animation involves defining specific key points in time for parts of the object to be in certain positions or states. The software then interpolates the motion between these keyframes to create fluid movement.
- Morph Targets/Blend Shapes: Although theoretically supported, this feature allows for the deformation of an object by blending between different predefined shapes. However, it's important to note that this feature currently may not work as expected or may only partially work.
Importing Guidelines
- Preferred Formats: For best compatibility, use .fbx or .glb formats.
- Compatibility: While .fbx files are widely used and maintain animation integrity well, .glb files ensure smoother integration. Other CAD formats might not preserve animations effectively through our processing pipeline.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Early testing is crucial for identifying and resolving any import issues. For assistance, reach out to our support team.
Conclusion
Use .fbx or .glb formats for importing animations into Create for optimal results. If using morph targets or blend shapes, be aware of potential limited functionality. Our support team is here to help with any specific concerns or assistance needed.
