WorkLink Create: The Asset Library
The Asset Library allows you to upload, organize, and manage assets for your projects. You can manage files across Personal and Company trees, organize them into nested folders, and ensure project integrity with built-in usage tracking.
Managing Folders and Assets
You can now organize your assets with greater flexibility using nested structures and bulk actions.
Create Folders: You can create sub-folders within any tree (Personal or Company). Simply select a destination folder and select Create > Folder.
Drag-and-Drop Uploads: Drag files directly from your computer (Windows Explorer or macOS Finder) into any folder in the Asset Library to upload them instantly.
Nested Folder Imports: Dragging an entire folder from your computer into the Asset Library will respect the nested structure, importing all allowed asset formats while maintaining your sub-folder organization.
Bulk Actions: You can multi-select assets to move or delete them in bulk, saving time when cleaning up large libraries.
Asset Library Folders
-
Assets in Use: A collection of the assets used in the currently active project:
-
Materials: all materials used on meshes
-
Tip: You can right click this folder on "Generated Project Assets"
- "Delete Unassigned Materials" allows you to automatically delete all materials not actively used on 3D geometry
-
"Merge Identical Materials" allows you to merge materials that have identical properties.
-
Tip: You can right click this folder on "Generated Project Assets"
- UI Templates: all templates used in steps for the active project
- 3D Modles: all 3D Models used in the active project
- Images: all images used (in materials, UI or 3D images)
-
Videos: all videos used (in materials, UI or 3D images)
Tip: you can update/replace assets (3D models, Images and Videos) in your project using the "Replace Project Asset" function.
This will present you a diaglog where you can choose a different different asset.
Doing so will replace all the references to the old asset, with the new asset.
-
Materials: all materials used on meshes
-
Generated Project Assets: The Materials and UI Templates sub folders can be found in this folder. The Materials folder stores the materials of all models imported into the Asset Library while the UI template folder shows you available UI templates and allows you to edit it. You can also edit the UI template using the UI Editor. To delete an unused material, right click the material and select "delete". You can also rename or duplicate a material from there.
Tip: You can right click the Materials folder to
- Delete Unassigned Materials: this will remove all materials that are not directly assigned anywhere in Object Properties.
-
Merge Identical Materials: this will merge materials that have identical properties, into one single material.
- Personal Assets: The Personal Assets folder stores files or assets you personally uploaded to the Asset Library. To create sub-folders in the personal assets folder, use the "Create" option.
- Company Assets: This folder contains pre-built assets (supplied by us/an admin). It is also where user shared files are made available to the company. This means any author can share personal assets to this folder, and they are immediately available to all authors in the company. Simply drag and drop to move a personal asset to the company assets folder.
Deleting Assets & Usage Protection
To prevent broken references in your projects, the Asset Library now checks if an asset is being used before allowing deletion.
Single Asset Deletion
If you attempt to delete an asset that is currently used in a project (specifically the latest version or revision), a Cannot Delete modal will appear.
Usage List: The modal will list all projects currently using that asset.
Direct Access: Project names are hyperlinked. Clicking a project name will open it in a new tab so you can remove the asset reference if needed.
Permissions: If an asset is used in a project you do not have access to, the system will display the project name and the owner. If the project name is private, it will display as "Redacted."
Bulk Deletion
When deleting multiple assets at once:
If any assets in your selection are in use, a warning will appear: "Can’t delete some assets in your selection as they are used in project(s)."
To see exactly which projects are blocking a specific asset, try deleting that asset individually.
Toolbar Options
Search: Use the "Type to Search" box to find files across any project or organization folder.
Refresh: Updates the folder contents to show recent uploads or changes from other team members.
Create: Create new folders or materials.
Edit: Rename or delete selected assets.
Preview Box: Displays a 3D preview, material sample, or image. For 3D assets, this also displays the Triangle and Object count.
Upload Files: Standard manual upload button for adding new assets to your library.
Tip: Replacing Assets
If you need to update a 3D model, image, or video that is already in use, use the Replace Project Asset function. This replaces all references to the old asset with the new one throughout your project automatically, avoiding the "Cannot Delete" restriction.
Import materials and/or UI templates from other projects
-
Go to Create > Import Materials And / Or UI Templates From Other Projects
-
Select a project from the Project list, this will show your own projects, and projects shared with you. It is also possible to import a previously exported project. We recommend projects that were exported as "Project without Assets", to ensure the same assets are referenced troughout your company.
-
You can choose to select all, or only portions of the import by checking or unchecking the boxes.
- Press Import to complete the import process
-
Your assets will be available in your Generated Project Assets
