FAQ: What’s the Difference Between Groups and Catalogs?
Groups organize users while Scenario Catalogs organize content. However, their roles go slightly deeper than that.
What Are Groups?
Groups are used to manage access. They organize users (by team, department, role, or region) so administrators can efficiently control:
Permissions
Content visibility
Role-based access
Operational structure
Instead of assigning access individually, you assign it to a Group. In simple terms, Groups define who gets access to what (Scenarios/Projects) or who (Remote Assistance users.)
What Are Scenario Catalogs?
Scenario Catalogs are used to make access easier and more convenient. They organize content (such as procedures or instructions) into desired collections. This allows administrators to:
Structure content clearly
Deliver relevant scenarios to specific audiences
Simplify distribution
Rather than assigning individual scenarios one by one, you can share an entire Catalog. In simple terms, Scenario Catalogs define what contents are available as one package.
Both features keep permissions centralized and content distribution efficient for WorkLink users.
