WorkLink Scenarios: Side-loading Work Instruction Scenarios
Offline publishing allows authors to publish a work instruction scenarios for offline use. Follow the instructions below to side-load a work instruction scenario on a supported device.
Windows
Please note the WorkLink app must be installed on the target device prior to following the instructions below.
Below are specific instructions on transferring the .scope file to your Windows device e.g. Laptop, Surface:
- Open the File Explorer window and navigate to C:\Users\<Username>\Pictures\Camera Roll\
- Copy the scenario (.scope file) you downloaded into the Camera Roll folder;
- Your content will now be available for use in the WorkLink App and feature as an Offline Project/Scenario on the WorkLink App.
Note: You can also achieve this by copying and pasting the file into the location (Camera Roll folder).

- Try saving your content in C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Packages\ScopeAR.ScopeARWorkLink_qw0sdg9ragx7y\LocalState
HoloLens 2
Please note the WorkLink app must be installed on the target device prior to following the instructions below.
- Log in to the HoloLens through the Windows Device Portal;
- Navigate to the following location: System> File Explorer;
- Navigate to the Camera Roll folder;
- Browse your directory for the file you wish to upload, double click the file and select Upload;
- Your content will now be available for use in the WorkLink App and feature as an Offline Project/Scenario.
Note: You can also achieve this by copying and pasting the file directly into the location (Camera roll folder).
iOS
Below are specific instructions on transferring the .scope file to your iOS device from your Windows and Mac computer:
Apple Devices App (Windows>>iOS Device)
The Apple Devices app in the Microsoft Store is a tool provided by Apple that allows users to manage their Apple devices on Windows PCs. It is essentially a replacement for iTunes.
Please note the WorkLink app must be installed on the target device prior to following the instructions below.

Download and Install the Apple Devices App
- Go to the Microsoft Store on your Windows computer and search for "Apple Devices"
- Download and install the app on your Windows PC. -
Connect Your iPad/iPhone to the Windows PC
- Use a USB cable to connect your device to the PC.
- Open the Apple Devices app, and your device should be recognized. -
Access File Sharing
- Once your device is connected, click on "Files" option within the Apple Devices app.
- The app should show a list of apps installed on your device that support file sharing, including the already installed WorkLink App. -
Add the .scope file(s)
- Drag and drop or use the "Add File" button to upload the .scope file(s) to the App's Document section.
- Sync the Files
- Once you add the .scope file(s), they will be transferred to the WorkLink App on your device.
- You can now open the WorkLink app on your device, refresh the scenario list and access the sideloaded scenario.
Finder (Mac>>iOS Device)
Finder is the default file management application on macOS, similar to File Explorer on Windows. It is the tool you use to navigate and manage files, folders, and drives on your Mac. Finder replaced iTunes on macOS starting with macOS Catalina (10.15).
Please note the WorkLink app must be installed on the target iPad prior to following the instructions below.
- Connect an iPad to a computer via a USB-C/USB to lightning cable.
- Click Allow on the “Allow this device to access photos and videos?“ pop-up notification on the iPad .
- Open Finder app and click on the applicable iPad in the sidebar menu under the Locations tab (the iPad may need to be unplugged and replugged while unlocked before the iPad will appear in the Locations tab).
- Click on the Files tab within the primary window under the applicable iPad (Files is between the Photos and Info tabs). The WorkLink app should appear in the list.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the WorkLink app.
- Drag the desired .scope file to the bottom of the list of files.
- Open the WorkLink app on the iPad and locate the desired scenario in the scenario list.
- Right-clicking on a given .scope file and selecting Delete will remove scenarios that are no longer needed. The WorkLink app will need to be closed and re-opened for changes to be reflected.
iTools App (Windows & Mac>>iOS Device)
iTools is a third-party application designed to help manage iOS devices. It offers an alternative to iTunes for users looking for a more streamlined way to manage their Apple devices, with added features and a less restrictive experience. However, since it is a third-party app, it’s important to download it from a reputable source.
Note: Download and install iTools on your Computer. Find the install here - iTools

Note: Mac users
All Mac OS versions have a technology designed to ensure that only trusted software runs on your Mac. If you get the prompt “iTools can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software” while launching the iTools App, please do the following - Go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> search for iTools and click “Open Anyway”.
Android
Below are specific instructions on transferring the .scope file to your Android device.
Please note the WorkLink app must be installed on the target device prior to following the instructions below.
- Connect your device to your computer via USB;
- On the device, navigate to Android\data\com.scopear.RemoteAR\files;
- Copy your project file <projectname.scope> to your device;
- Your content will now be available for use in the WorkLink App and will feature as an Offline Project.
