HoloLens 2: WorkLink Call on HoloLens 2
WorkLink enables technicians to connect directly with experts from a HoloLens 2 device, facilitating immediate support and guidance. However, WorkLink does not support HoloLens-to-HoloLens calls. Technicians using a HoloLens 2 can initiate a call, but the expert (receiver) must connect via another supported device (e.g., iOS, Windows computer/tablet or Android).
How to Initiate a WorkLink Call from HoloLens 2
1. Ensure both the technician and the expert are logged into the WorkLink app.
2. On the HoloLens 2, the technician navigates to “Contacts” to view the contact list.
3. Tap on the desired contact to initiate a remote assistance call.
Using Annotations on HoloLens 2
During a WorkLink Call, both users can draw, highlight, place arrows, and share text bubbles on real-world objects. These annotation tools enhance communication, providing flexible ways to convey complex information.
Limitations of WorkLink Calling on HoloLens 2
- No Camera Swapping: The camera swap feature is available only on iOS and Android.
- No Session Recording: Only iOS (ARKit) and Android (ARCore) devices support session recording.
- Limited Guest Invite Functionality: HoloLens 2 does not support direct guest invitations. However, a technician using HoloLens 2 can join an expert on another device via guest invite using a PIN or email. Learn more about the Guest Invite feature.
- No Text Annotation Tool: The text annotation tool, which allows for adding text boxes, is not available on HoloLens 2 during WorkLink Calls.
