15 - Frame and Handle
Frame Construction
- Setting Up the Frame
- Use the line tool to trace the frame shape.
- Enable rendering in viewport for cylindrical geometry.
- Use the fillet option to round corners.
- Handle Creation
- Handle rotates from two points (bolts).
- Create connection brackets using cylinders.
- Scale and modify cylinders, delete half, apply shell modifier.
- Add a release button mechanism for handle rotation.
- Positioning the Frame
- Ensure the frame goes behind the wheel.
- Confirm the wheel connects to a bracket on the frame.
- Align the frame with fuel tank contours.
- Line Drawing and Refinement
- Create a multi-point line using an orthographic view.
- Refine line with additional vertices for accurate shape.
- Use snapping (S key) for alignment.
- Applying Fillet to Frame
- Select vertices and use fillet option to round corners.
- Adjust each curve individually for proper curvature.
- Rendering the Frame
- Enable rendering in viewport.
- Select radial shape, 12 sides, auto-smooth (40°).
- Ensure caps are enabled for closed geometry.
Symmetry & Positioning
- Applying Symmetry Modifier
- Convert line to edit poly.
- Apply symmetry for mirroring across the X and Y axis.
- Adjust mirror position to align with frame structure.
- Extend endpoints for seamless symmetry.
Handle & Bracket Creation
- Creating the Brackets
- Use cylinders and scale to match the frame’s width.
- Apply shell modifier for thickness.
- Reset XForm before adding thickness to avoid deformation.
- Modeling the Handle
- Create a multi-point line for handle shape.
- Use fillet tool to round out corners.
- Apply rendering in viewport for cylindrical form.
- Convert to edit poly and apply symmetry.
- Adding the Pivot Bolts
- Create cylinders for bolts and nuts.
- Align pivot points with snapping for rotation accuracy.
- Finalizing Handle Functionality
- Adjust pivot for correct rotating point.
- Test rotation to ensure proper movement.
Release Button Construction
- Creating the Button
- Use a sphere, remove half, and extend into handle.
- Adjust rotation to align with handle.
- Use auto-smooth to fix shading issues.
- Finalizing the Release Mechanism
- Ensure button fits into handle.
- Verify correct alignment and functionality.
