23 - Exporting an .fbx
Exporting Proxy Model & Scan for Create Integration
1. Exporting the Proxy Model
- Select All Objects for Export
- Pressed Ctrl + A to select all proxy model components.
- Navigated to File → Export → Export Selected.
- Creating the Export Directory
- Created a new folder inside the models directory named exports.
- Named the file gen_proxy.fbx.
- FBX Export Settings
- Geometry:
- ✅ Preserve Instances
- ✅ Preserve Edge Orientation
- Animation:
- ❌ No animation
- ❌ No cameras, lights, or audio
- Material Settings:
- ✅ Embedded Media (Ensures textures transfer)
- ✅ Shell Material → Original Material
- Unit & Orientation Settings:
- ✅ Set to Automatic Units
- ✅ AI Conversion → Y-Up
- FBX File Format:
- ✅ Chose ASCII FBX 2020 for compatibility
- Geometry:
- Finalizing the Export
- Clicked OK, allowing the export process to complete.
2. Exporting the Scan Model
- Hiding Other Layers to Isolate the Scan
- Opened Scene Explorer/Layers Window.
- Hid the Default Layer and unhid the Scan Layer.
- Selecting and Exporting the Scan Model
- Selected the scan model.
- Navigated to File → Export → Export Selected.
- Named the file gen_scan.fbx.
- Using the Same FBX Settings as the Proxy Model
- Ensured geometry, material, and unit settings were identical.
✅ Both the Proxy Model (gen_proxy.fbx) and the Scan (gen_scan.fbx) are now exported and ready for import into Create!
