Visibility Mode allows you to choose whether you are aligning 3D content onto the real equipment or without real equipment.

The Visibility mode for an object or a group can be set to Standalone or Overlay visibility mode in Object Properties:

               

1. Solid: Allows objects in the group to be solid, regardless of their default setting. 
2. Ghosted: Allows objects in the group to be semi-transparent for the current step, regardless of their default setting.
3. Hidden: Allows objects in the group to be hidden for the current step, regardless of their default setting.
4. Custom: Allows authors to select a custom material to use as visibility mode.
   
   This allows you to use the visbility mode as some sort of override look, expanding your creative possibilities.
   Here's a practical example on how you could use it:
   
   

There is an internal logic for these types in terms of override importance.

The logic is: hidden > ghosted > custom > solid

For example: assuming all children are set to “override parent visibility” off

• A parent set to hidden
  • child set to solid, will render the child hidden (since hidden > solid)
  • child set to ghosted, will render the child hidden (since hidden > ghosted)
  • child set to custom, will render the child hidden (since hidden > custom)
• A parent set to custom material
  • child set to solid, will render the child custom (since custom > solid)
  • child set to ghosted, will render the child ghosted (since ghosted > custom)
  • child set to hidden, will render the child hidden (since hidden > custom)

In WorkLink Create, using the Render mode, the Author can toggle between modes to “test” visibility of objects within each step
depending on how they want that object to function in each mode.

Standalone Mode

Displays the full content without real equipment. When configured this will generally render the complete equipment so that the instructions can be understood in any environment.

When an image target is recognized in Alignment mode, the visibility mode (Overlay/Standalone) will be changed to the setting of that image. Alternatively, you can select the menu icon in the top left corner of the main interface window of the WorkLink App and tap on “Overlay” or “Standalone” to toggle between the two modes.

Overlay Mode

Overlays content onto the real equipment, when properly configured this will generally only render the specific components which are useful for the current instruction.
